Life work after retirement

It's already been over three years since I retired. I will write about temperature and thermowell that I have done in the last three years.
I resumed the study of thermowell strength calculation that I had done in the past for the purpose of preventing brain deterioration after retirement. First, I got the necessary books, standards, literature, etc.
Regarding the strength calculation of Thermowell, ASME PTC 19.3 TW-2016 is used as standard worldwide, so I first obtained this standard. The Techstreet Shop was easier to use than the ASME site, and I was able to purchase both the PDF and print versions together for $ 145.

In Japan, strength calculation is performed based on the guideline JSME S012. I searched for this book, but it's already out of print and not available in secondhand book. When I searched online, I found that there was a collection of books in the prefectural library in Kanagawa prefecture, so I immediately visited at the end of March 2019.

This book comes with a CD-ROM, and if I can borrow the book, I can get the necessary data. However, this book is prohibited from being rented and can be viewed (including CD-ROM) and copied. Therefore, it was possible to print from the CD-ROM, so I printed the necessary parts. I have a good grasp of the contents of this book, and the PDF covers all the contents. I was able to purchase the required copy for @ 10 x 149 = 1,490 yen.
The official name of this JSME S012 is "Guideline for Evaluation of Flow-Induces Vibration of a Cylindrical Structure in a Pipe".
The next task is to create a strength calculation program based on these two standards. In my previous job, I created a program with database software called FileMaker Pro, but I had to maintain compatibility with past data, so I couldn't make one that supports the Foot-Pound method. This time, I started programming without any restrictions.

The FileMaker Pro I bought prebious was Version 17, which was already a little older at that time. Therefore, I purchased the latest version by an upgraded right. In addition, from this version, exponential notation has been added to the display method of numerical values, making it very easy to display large numerical values ​​that could not be done with the old version. This feature was very helpful in getting the technical calculations done.
